Abstract

Aim: The present study was conducted to compare the motor performance and emotional intelligence of normal and gifted female students aged 12-15 years.
Materials and Methods: This causal-comparative study was conducted on 100 subjects in two equal groups (50 gifted female students from public sample schools and 50 normal female students from public schools) using random sampling. The Adolescent Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (TEIQue-ASF) and the Bruininks-Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency, Second Edition (BOT-2) were used to measure emotional intelligence and motor performance, respectively.
Results: The results showed that the motor performance of gifted students was significantly better than normal individuals (p=0.029). However, there was no significant difference in the emotional intelligence variable between the two groups (p<0.05).
Conclusion: The results suggest that further investigation is needed to explore the possible causes of the significant difference in motor performance between gifted and normal students, such as differences in school facilities, access to sports equipment, and the importance of physical activity outside of school.
